Artist's Description
M45, commonly referred to as the Pleiades or the Seven Sisters, is a breathtaking open star cluster located in the constellation of Taurus, approximately 444 light-years away from Earth. Named after the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology, this cluster is one of the most recognizable and celebrated objects in the night sky. Comprised of hot, young stars, the Pleiades glimmer like a celestial jewel box, with its brightest stars surrounded by delicate blue nebulosity that reflects the starlight. Its distinct shape, resembling a tiny dipper, makes it a favorite target for stargazers and astronomers alike. The Pleiades cluster holds a special place in cultures around the world, inspiring countless legends and stories across generations. Beyond its beauty and cultural significance, the Pleiades serves as an invaluable laboratory for astronomers studying stellar evolution, stellar dynamics, and the properties of interstellar dust.

It was not until 1985, when Bruce was 21 years old that he looked through his first telescope while living with his bandmates in the California desert. He was sporting a badass mullet at the time,...
